Young Designer Throw – Interconnected
Designed by Mpumelelo Nyuswa named ‘Interconnected’.
The design is inspired by Kuhlangene which means connected in IsiZulu. It is a play of “Iziqhaza” or African ear piercings. Mpumelelo interpreted those patterns in a modern context. The circular and curved shapes convey a continuous cycle of life, a youthful spirit, and the fact that connection to people is the most important aspect of being human.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER:
Mpumelelo Nyuswa is a 24 year old interior designer by profession and a freelance graphic designer born and raised in Durban. He values the interconnection between collaborative design and the impact it makes on society.
FABRICATION: 100% cotton, Cinnamon Brown & Terracotta
PROCESS: Jacquard reversible knit with ribbed trim on two sides
SIZE: 130cm x 190cm (51,18 inches x 74,80 inches) including the trim. Note that sizing may vary slightly by batch.
WEIGHT: Medium weight knit, approximately 1,8kg per piece
CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Delicate machine wash using cold water. Do not wash with other items. Do not use fabric softener. Do not bleach, soak rub or wring while washing. Reshape while damp. Flat dry away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry or iron.
PACKAGING: Each branded throw is beautifully packaged inside a custom calico bag along with an A6 print of the relevant artwork
