RENAISSANCE DESIGN

“My passion is to re-awaken ancient cultural knowledge on the African continent and introduce a rebirth of tribal design, which is our vision of modern Africa.”

Renaissance Design’s modern African visual archives, created by South African interior and product designer Glorinah Khutso Mabaso, can be applied to wallpaper, fabric and various other surfaces. Mabaso and her seasonal brand collaborators see the multi-faceted design company, founded in 2015, as a vehicle for capturing the essence of ancient Africa in the present through the creation of modern visual archives. The neutral palettes, bold geometric patterns and clever use of colour and simple lines in Mabaso’s designs are strongly influenced by ancient tribal sounds, dance, textures, patterns and architecture.
